The “Parcours Création Cinéma” continues the momentum initiated in 2016 of reinforced structuring with 10 players from the continent who have demonstrated their expertise, including three structures dedicated to African animation, through two festivals and the opening of a training venue. In 2016, the Institut français launched a program to support local structures, cultural entrepreneurs and film professionals in Africa, to help them develop projects, strengthen production chains and promote access to French and international networks. Entitled “Parcours”, these programs have supported new writing labs and co-production workshops set up by emerging African professionals, and in just a few years have consolidated new networks of filmmakers and producers. Today, after 8 years, the number of initiatives on the continent has multiplied, and these structures are recognized and have proven their effectiveness, as demonstrated each year by the selection of films at prestigious festivals by beneficiaries of this support.

Thanks to Création Africa, this program is expanding to ensure continuity of action, by strengthening new creative networks, supporting La Fabrique Cinéma (and the Cinémas du Monde pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival) and Aide aux cinémas du monde (post-production support), as well as the acquisition and international distribution of films with Cinémathèque Afrique.
