Visual Arts FOCUS Paris-Lyon

  • Lyon
From 17 October 2022 to 21 October 2022
On the occasion of the Biennale d'art contemporain de Lyon as well as the week of the modern and contemporary art fair Paris+ by Art Basel, a delegation of professionals (directors of institutions, exhibition curators ) from all over the world is invited to discover the effervescence and vitality of the artistic scenes of Paris and Lyon.

Seventeen art world professionals from 17 European countries have been chosen by the Institut français to participate in a Focus tour. A unique opportunity for artists and professionals from the French and International Visual Arts sector to meet, this Focus aims to increase the visibility of the French art scene and facilitate the creation of professional networks and collaborations between art professionals in France and abroad.

For this Focus, a partnership has been established with Trampoline, an association that supports the French art scene, in order to develop exchanges with private foundations in particular. The Trampoline association brings together independent cultural organisations that combine their efforts to promote the international influence of French artists.

Over five days, the Focus will be held around several highlights, notably the modern and contemporary art fair Paris+ by Art Basel, the Lyon Biennial of Contemporary Art and other exhibitions and artistic events in the field of contemporary art in Greater Paris during this period. The programme also includes visits to key art venues in Parisand Lyon - foundations, museums, art centres, galleries, artists' studios - as well as meetings with professionals and artists from the French scene.

The Focus programme will thus offer participants:

  • More than 184 artists from the French art scene
  • 167 professionals from the French art scene
  • 172 French institutions, galleries and art venues.

Focus guests will also have the opportunity during Paris+ to participate in two events (screening and discussion-meetings) included in the VIP programme around Zineb Sedira - the artist representing France at the 59th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia - and co-organised by the Institut français and the city of Paris, at the Luxor and at the MAM - Museum of Modern Art.

The programme includes exhibitions of artists from the French scene in contemporary art venues in the Greater Paris area, particularly from the TRAM network.
