Writing the War
The session "Writing the War" will take place on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Espace Ouest-France, as part of the highlight event of the European Dialogues in Rennes.
Free entry subject to available seating.
Presentation of the Session
Writing about war, documenting it, helping to understand its roots and complexity within the broader scope of history, giving it the human face of countless shattered lives, showcasing resistance, analyzing the mechanics of hatred or indifference, amplifying new voices, countering waves of disinformation... and then facing the long-term aftermath.
The role of the media is as crucial as it is delicate in analyzing the war in Ukraine and its consequences for Europe. It is equally sensitive in the context of the war between Israel and Hamas. How do events of such magnitude disrupt newsroom practices? What can the media do to help citizens understand the ongoing upheavals in a context of rising tensions and geopolitical rebalancing?
Addressed at every stage of the European Dialogues, this discussion, designed to be open and participatory, aims to emphasize the importance of access to information and knowledge.
